Prof. Hee Jeung Oh Selected as 2025 IUPAC Young Observer by the U.S. National Committee of National Academy of Sciences (NAS)

We are delighted to share that Prof. Hee Jeung Oh was selected as a 2025 IUPAC Young Observer by the U.S. National Committee (USNC) of National Academy of Sciences (NAS).

The IUPAC Young Observer Program aims to introduce a new generation of researchers to the work of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). International science policy and latest discoveries will be discussed at the IUPAC meeting.

More details can be found on National Academies and Penn State News.

Established by the U.S. National Committee (USNC) for the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) in 1977 to foster interactions with internationally acclaimed scientists in various fields, the IUPAC Young Observer Program strives to introduce the work of IUPAC to a new generation of distinguished researchers and to provide them with an opportunity to address international science policy issues.

About our work

We design and create high-performance membranes that enable unprecedented separation opportunities. We pursue fundamental breakthroughs that translate into real-world applications, always seeking to bridge the microscopic understanding of materials with macroscopic performance. Our goal is to make separations systems cleaner, stronger, and more sustainable.

About the Oh Lab

At the Oh Lab, we are dedicated to advancing the world’s most important, but challenging, separations in the environment, energy, and health sector. We do this by focusing on the molecular-to-macroscopic design and characterization of polymer membranes. We work at the intersection of chemical engineering, materials science, and molecular transport, focusing on designing advanced polymer membranes for efficient chemical separation.
