Prof. Hee Jeung Oh Honored with the AIChE FRI/John G. Kunesh Award
We are delighted to share that Prof. Hee Jeung Oh has been named the 2024 recipient of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Separations Division’s prestigious FRI/John G. Kunesh Award.
This award recognizes outstanding contributions to the academic, scientific, technological, industrial, or service areas involving separations technologies. Prof. Oh was selected for her pioneering work advancing polymeric materials and developing innovative processes for adsorption and membrane-based separations. Her work on polymers has contributed to the design of membranes for liquid, gas and vapor separations; resource recovery and recycling; chemical and biochemical manufacturing; environmental remediation; energy storage; and health-related devices.
Prof. Oh’s research has consistently pushed the boundaries of how separations science can contribute to clean energy, sustainability, and industrial efficiency. Her group’s work in polymer design and membrane engineering has not only advanced fundamental science but also offered practical solutions to global challenges such as clean water access and sustainable chemical production. The Kunesh Award underscores the far-reaching impact of her contributions and her leadership in the separations community.
This recognition is a proud moment for our department and for all the students and collaborators who have worked alongside Prof. Oh. We congratulate her on this well-deserved honor and look forward to the continued innovations that will emerge from her lab.
